Jan. 15, 2018 – Aaron Moger

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Leadership Council member Aaron Moger taught from Dr. King’s last sermon before he was killed. Delivered the night before he died in a church in Memphis, TN, Dr. King preached about going to the Mountaintop. Brother Aaron used Dr. King’s sermon as a springboard and highlighted a few key applications for us today. One of them was that God has appointed and equipped each and every man for a specific time in history. He has given us all specific gifts to accomplish the work He’s called us to do. MLK was equipped to preach the word of God and to fight racial injustice in the world. God appointed him to live in America in the 1960s so that he could do just that. In scripture, God placed Esther in the palace to save His people from oppression. Esther 4:14 – “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this.”

The Lord has equipped each of us with all that we need to fulfill the calling He has placed on our lives. MLK saw it and preached about it in his last sermon.

Finally, we were reminded that we must look after the “least of these” and seek to see that all men and women are treated equally because all were created equal and all were created in the image of God.
